  • For admission to MBBS, BDS, and AYUSH courses NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) is a pen-and-paper medical entrance test conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA); Formerly known as AIPMT (All India Pre-Medical Test) it is an all-India pre-medical test. Every year lakh of students participate in the NEET exam with the objective of getting admission to one of the most renowned medical institutes across the country.

What is the NEET 2024?

  • *  In order for the students to pursue medicine in India as well as overseas, it is mandatory for the students to clear NEET 2024 exam.
  • *  It is an offline test conducted covering the syllabus of classes 11th & 12th, the total number of marks allotted to the paper is 720.
  • *  To appear for the NEET exam, the student must have completed Class 12 from a recognised board, with Physics, Biology/Biotechnology, Chemistry, and English as core subjects.


NEET 2023 Synopsis

In the year 2023, NEET was conducted on 07th May 2023 for medical aspirants in 497 Indian cities and a total of 14 cities outside India, for which the registration process began on 16th April 2023, & the application forms were available on the official website of NEET. As per the official announcement the last date for submission of the online form for NEET 2023 was 20th May 2023. A total of 18.7 Lakh registrations were witnessed for NEET 2023 recording the highest number so far. The results of the same were announced on 13th June 2023.

What is the age requirement for the NEET 2024 examination?

At the time of admission, the candidate must have completed 17 years of age or will complete that age on or before 31st December of the year of his or her admission to the first year of the Undergraduate Medical Course.

  • *  Aspirants must be citizens of India.
  • *  Non-Resident Indians (NRIs).
  • *  Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs).
  • *  Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs) or Foreign nationals.


What is the academic qualification for NEET 2024?

Candidates who have passed the class 12 board examination or would be appearing for the same or equivalent.


Which subjects are necessary to take up NEET?

Candidates must have passed in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English individually. He/She should have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology at the qualifying examination as mentioned in the Regulations. For admission to Undergraduate Medical Courses, one must have secured a rank in the merit list of NEET (UG) – 2024.


What percentage is needed in Class 12 to appear for NEET 2024 exam?

Qualifying marks for NEET 2024 –under the general category candidates must have secured a minimum of 50% in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in the qualifying examination. In the case of the SC, ST, and OBC-NCL categories the minimum requirement is 40%.


What Is new in NEET 2024 exam? Expected Changes in NEET 2024

All the students who are planning to take up NEET exam 2024 can expect a few changes. The entity has introduced several changes in the past two years. Below given are a few changes that were introduced earlier:

  • *  The overall exam duration was increased by 20 minutes for NEET 2022 making it a total of 200 minutes (03:20 hours) to be held from 02:00 PM to 05:20 PM (IST).
  • *  Section A and Section B had optional questions.
  • *  For Indian candidates who desire to pursue medicine abroad, qualifying NEET UG exam is mandatory.
  • *  There is no upper age limit for the NEET exam, but minimum age limit restrictions should be followed for corresponding categories. Also, there are no restrictions on the number of attempts at the NEET.
  • *  Qualifying NEET is a must, to seek admission in AIIMS and JIPMER institutes.
  • *  For female candidates who wish to pursue nursing programs at AFMS institutes, scores of NEET Exam shall be accepted.
  • *  The exam fee was revised.
  • *  More exam centers were added and allocated both in India and aboard.

Candidates must visit the official website of NTA – https://neet.nta.nic.in/ and fill out the online application form to register for NEET 2024 exam.

Upon the release of application forms online, official notification will be released by the officials. The form can only be submitted via online mode. Click on the ‘Apply Link’ and the link will direct you to the application form hence, commencing the registration process.

  • *  In order to register, go to the ‘New Registration’ tab and provide the information such as name, mobile number, email id, and other details.
  • *  Fill out the complete registration form for the NEET exam 2024.
  • *  Fill in other details like date of birth, category, nationality, qualification details such as year of passing, percentage of marks, contact details, and choice for the exam center.
  • *  The candidate must upload the scanned copies of the required documents in a specified format.
  • *  Complete the payment process.
  • *  Once the process is completed candidates are provided with the provisional application number which is sent to the registered phone number and email ID.
